Metropolis has fallen

In the bowels of a city of metal and neon, a shadow was growing. The wise men, the poets, those who were called "fools," had felt the tide turning. They had spoken of the cold soul of the machines, of their steely ambition, but their voices were lost in the din of modernity. Society, blinded by progress, had abandoned itself to the charms of cybernetic implants, ignoring the gang wars that bloodied the backstreets and the violence that was becoming law. They thought they could tame technology, but it was technology that insidiously devoured them.
