Er Ma

Set against the vast Mongolian grasslands, Er Ma is a poetic short animation that explores memory, love, and emotional growth. Through the girl’s quiet interaction with a white horse, the film weaves memories of her father into a journey through landscapes and time. The horse, both a real companion and a spiritual guide, leads the protagonist across wind-swept plains and inner reflections, marking a silent rite of passage. With slow-moving shots and empty frames, the film captures the vastness of the grassland, the whisper of the wind, and the fading shadows of memory. Embracing an Eastern aesthetic of restraint and rhythm, Er Ma invites viewers to feel emotion through stillness and silence, letting unspoken love echo across the endless steppe. Director - Jun Li Sun
