Cafe Conversations

Winner 2025 AI Film 3 Festival in Arizona. Best AI Short Film Set in 1960s Paris, "Cafe Conversations" is an intimate audio-visual portrait of an African-American woman recording her story on a personal tape recorder. A singer, model, and expatriate, she reflects on life as a fair-skinned Black woman in a foreign country that both embraces and exoticizes her. As we see glimpses of her elegant solitude in quiet corners of the city, her voice carries themes of identity, displacement, pride, and quiet resistance. Through poetic narration and evocative imagery, this short film captures the internal tension of belonging to a place that isn’t home—and leaving a home that never fully embraced her.
