In the 16th century, Spanish galleons cross the seas bearing a secret far darker than conquest. When one such ship is wrecked on the shores of the Philippines, ancient evils long imprisoned by the Church are unleashed upon the land. Mutya, a young Babaylan—a spiritual healer and keeper of ancestral rites—is chosen by the spirits to inherit a powerful amulet meant to shield her people from these horrors. But its magic demands a terrible price: blood, sacrifice, and a life severed from all human ties. As monsters rise from the ocean and the Church brands her a bruja (BROO-hah), Mutya becomes both savior and hunted heretic. Torn between protecting her family and preserving the soul of her homeland, she is forced to embrace forbidden ancestral rites that consume her body, memory, and name. In the end, the land will be saved by her sacrifice—but Mutya herself will vanish from history. Her name forgotten, her life erased, remembered only by the earth, the sea, and the spirits she died to protect.
