The Last of Us Series Over?

In his most recent interview, with Variety, it appears Neil Druckmann could be hinted that any rumored Last of Us Part III will not be happening. When asked about the series continuing for a third game, Druckmann said "don't bet on there being more 'Last of Us'." After a multiplayer game set in the Last of Us universe was cancelled in 2023 it has been quiet from Naughty Dog on the future of their hit franchise. With Season 2 coming to HBO in April along side Last of Us 2 remastered for the PC in the same month, are we witnessing the end of the franchise?
