The STEM10 - Season 1

E01: JADEN SMITH, WATER ENTREPRENEUR

Just Water was created with Jaden’s desire to eliminate as much plastic waste as possible to better our environment. This evolved into an 
 even bigger challenge—how to revolutionize the way bottled water is acquired, packaged and how the business could impact growth within 
 the community. Looking at creating a 100% renewable resource is their primary goal and they’ve already achieved 82% renewability in their 
 bottling, but they’re looking at so much more.

E02: EMMA YANG, APP DEVELOPER

Emma started out at an early age playing with code, but her true passion didn’t unfold until she entered a technology challenge at 
 10 years old. It was then that she channeled her knowledge towards helping others, specifically her grandmother, who was diagnosed 
 with Alzheimer’s Disease. Emma created an app, Timeless, that uses AI-based facial recognition technology to helps Alzheimer’s 
 patients recognize people around them, allowing them to connect with friends and family.

E03: ALEXIS LEWIS, INVENTOR

Alexis is a curious person — a problem solver — and uses her inventiveness to find solutions. So far, she’s invented the Emergency 
 Mask Pod, a football shaped container, holding a Smoke Filtration Mask, that First Responders can throw into burning buildings so 
 that the people inside have a greater chance of surviving. Next, she took an old idea, the travois, created by Native American Indians, 
 and updated it with wheels so that it could be used in Somalia to transport people and supplies.

E04: MEET CEO AND CO-FOUNDER OF LISNR RODNEY WILLIAMS

Rodney Williams is the CEO and founder of Lisnr. Lisnr is an ultrasonic audio technology that uses inaudible sounds to transmit information. 
 It was created around a single premise — sound can do more. Rodney is the brainchild behind this idea and it’s considered the pioneer of 
 the industry, the only ultrasonic solution approved and deployed by government agencies and is considered the Global Standard in the IoT 
 for ultrasonic connectivity.

E05: MEET “PHYSICS GIRL” DIANNA COWERN

Dianna grew up loving math, but when she found out she could combine it with science to answer questions about the world, 
 she was immediately hooked on physics. When it came time to select a college, she chose MIT. Then after graduation, as a 
 post-graduate project, she started a science channel on YouTube — turning her desire to do science communication, to reach 
 kids and get them excited about science. Now Dianna, the creator of Physics Girl, has a huge following and is sponsored 
 by PBS.

E06: MEET MARLON HENDERSON AND JONATHAN HOEFLINGER REVOLUTIONIZE GIVING!

Marlon Henderson and Jonathan Hoeflinger started their media and tech company as a way to expedite the process of giving across the world. 
 By changing the paradigm, their company works to solve global challenges by focusing on local organizations. After meeting with numerous 
 non-profits complaining about the lack of resources, they realized that the problem was really a lack of distribution.

E07: LISA WINTER, ROBOT BUILDER

When Lisa was 10, she built Doughboy, her first robot. For her, it’s all in the family — her father’s a robot builder and her mother 
 collects them. But she really got hooked when her father came home from a Robots War competition with a trophy and videotapes 
 of the battles. Since then, she’s been building robots and competing in Battle Bots, worked in a start-up that was bought by 
 Mattel and continued to utilize her unique skills at the world’s largest toy company.

E08: LIV BULI, DATA JOURNALIST AND CHILDREN'S AUTHOR!

As a data journalist and children’s author, Liv spends her time trying to find simple ways to communicate and visualize data 
 to an audience that has no clue what data really is. She didn’t come to this from a background of wanting to write and wanting 
 to tell stories, it was more of a realization that data was something she could leverage to tell an even better story. And so now, 
 she thinks about all the ways that she can incorporate some science, technology, engineering or math into whatever she’s 
 writing about.

E09: BRIAN GERRARD, ENTREPRENEUR

Brian Gerrard started BAE, a dating app for African Americans, because the process of dating - quite frankly - stunk. His team with BAE was 
 wildly successful in bringing people together. And because of that, Brian realized his passion was bringing people together, whether it’s dating 
 or any sort of community. BAE was acquired by the Meet Group, a company that “helps millions of users find connection and community within 
 our portfolio of mobile apps and services”. Now, as one of their leaders, Brian is able to use his STEM skills to pursue his core passion of 
 bringing people and communities together.

E10: DANNI WASHINGTON, OCEAN ADVOCATE AND SCIENCE COMMUNICATOR!

Danni’s a science communicator and avid ocean advocate aiming to share her knowledge of the ocean and other scientific 
 concepts through digital media. As a woman of color, she’s striving to get female minorities to pursue a path around STEM. 
 Danni hopes to use her knowledge, personality and love for our blue planet to motivate youth around the world to become 
 stewards of our environment and encourages them to initiate change toward a brighter future of tomorrow.

The STEM10 brings together a collaboration of diverse minds inspiring future leaders to be exactly who they’d like to be. It’s about building a foundation for the future by breaking down the barriers to STEM education.
